In June 2011, a second reception center for asylum seekers
is open in Bogovada. Following protests against refugees
took place in Banja Koviljaca last autumn, the city where
is the oldest center for asylum seekers in Serbia, many applicants were transferred from one to another. The new center was quickly saturated (150 places while there are thousands of new asylum applications
each year). Thus the same situation as Banja Koviljaca appears
: near the center, hundreds of asylum seekers settle in
the city, in a more or less precarious situation.
It is much more an impasse that from 2008 to 2011, during the first three years of implementation of the new Serbian Law on Asylum, nobody got refugee status, and only three people (one per year) subsidiary protection.
