Lack of opportunities in Greece, exacerbated by the deep crisis facing the country, strengthening controls making it more difficult passage to Italy by the Adriatic increasingly exiles pass through the Balkans to other European countries some stop for seeking asylum.

Serbia is thus, as neighboring states, countries of immigration and transit. The European Union is pushing for those countries participating in its fight against illegal immigration, border control and deportation of illegal aliens. Hungary, a country of entry into the Schengen area, step up checks on its southern border.

It is therefore in Serbia all the symptoms of European immigration policy: detention centers funded by the European Union, "jungle" near the border, reception system for asylum seekers saturated.

There are two reception centers for asylum seekers in Banja Koviljaca and Bogovadja.

The center of Banja Koviljaca has a capacity of 81 seats. There are 210 asylum seekers in the city, as well as, an estimated 500 to 2,000 illegal aliens.

The situation was tense in the small town of 6000 inhabitants from the rape of a British national, whose exiles are suspected. Demonstrations were held to demand the expulsion of all foreigners in the city, and the parents refuse to send their children to school.
