On December 15, a boat carrying exiles sank in the Aegean Sea near the island of Mytilene. 16 dead, 11 missing, 1 person rescued by the Coast Guard.
A new drama which shows the adaptation of the paths of exile to the constraints imposed by the tightening of controls at some points of the borders. With the deployment of Frontex between Turkish coast and the Greek islands, this route had virtually ceased to be taken in favor of the passage of the land border between the European part of Turkey and Greece. The construction of a wall on the portion where the river Evros isn't the borderline makes the crossing more difficult and dangerous. Thus we see reappear passage through the sea, with its dangers to avoid the patrols.
