Following the murder of a young Greek on May 19, assigned by the press to "Afghans", some inhabitants of Patras, but also members of the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party organized a demonstration of about 150 people, armed with batons and iron bars, on the 20th of May, to the industrial area of Peiraiki Patraiki, where exiles' squats are. They were stopped by police, but the rest of the day small groups of exiles were assaulted and beaten in the streets of Patras.
On 22 May morning, the police raid of exiles and led them to Athens, where they were released a few hours later. Their belongings were often destroyed. In the afternoon, around 350 neo-Nazis were heading back to the industrial area, and trying to break into a former factory squatted. They were still prevented by the police. Clashes continued in the evening.
