A mission of Doctors Without Borders visited the islands of Samos, Leros and Simi, 30 August to 4 September, following information related to an increase of exiles arriving there. These three
islands are located in the Aegean Sea near the Turkish coast.
Three years ago, before the strengthening of the controls in the Aegean Sea, the paths of exile had moved to the land border between Greece and Turkey, near Edirne and on the Evros river. Since then, controls have been reinforced on the land border.
Doctors Without Borders notes that the reception facilities in the three islands are inadequate, insufficient and do not have adequate sanitary conditions.
